Carlyn Marcus Ekstrom

My paintings are informed by nature. In particular I have focused on the New England landscape, its curtain of greens in the summer and spring and its tapestry of gold, reds and browns in the fall. Nature in New England is a tangle; branches, leaves, vines, trees all sometimes blocking or revealing the ever changing sky. So, my paintings are a means of untangling, but, also showing the tangle. In one sense it seems all chaos and in another it is all order.
